Introduction of Scientific Section of Students at the Ceraneum Center
We are pleased to announce that the Pro-Rector in Charge of Students’ Affairs – Professor Zbigniew Góral – established the Scientific Section of Students at the Ceraneum Center (SNS Ceraneum) in May 2013. It is a collegiate research organization that associates students from all faculties of Lodz University, with research interests in accordance with the profile of the Cereaneum Center.
PhD. Anna Maciejewska from the Department of Classical Studies (University of Lodz) was appointed as the coordinator of the SNS by the management of the Ceraneum Center.

Further successes of the Ceraneum Centre
We are pleased to announce further successes of the members of the Ceraneum Centre and grants, awarded in February and March 2013.
The first one is the financing of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as a subsidy for dissemination of science to perform the task Wydanie rocznika „Studia Ceranea. Journal of the Waldemar Ceran Research Centre for the History and Culture of the Mediterranean Area and South-East Europe”, vol 2. The project is fullfilled in cooperation with the Library of the Lodz University (Coordinator: museum-keeper Tomasz Piestrzyński) within a broader grant awarded by the Library.
The second grant was received from the City of Lodz Office for organization of the international conference Biblia Slavorum Apocryphorum. III. Varia in the competition for the promotion of Lodz as a center of scientific and academic community. The Ceraneum Centre (coordinator: prof. Assoc. Georgi Minczew) in collaboration with the Department of South Slavic Studies at the Faculty of Philology and the Department of Byzantine History at the Faculty of Philosophy and History are responsible for the organization of the conference, that is to be held in October 2013

We are pleased to announce that in this year START scholarships for young scientists awarded by the Foundation for Polish Science, among the winners was a member of the Ceraneum Centre, Zofia Brzozowska, a PhD student from the Department of Byzantine History. This is the second award of this type; in 2011 another member of the Ceraneum Centre and employee of that department, Dr. Kirill Marinow, received a three-year scholarship for outstanding young scientists. Congratulations to the winners!

Founding meeting of the Scientific Section of Students at the Ceraneum Centre
We invite you to the official founding meeting of the Scientific Section of Students at the Ceraneum Centre.
Our intention is to reflect in student circles the profile of the Ceraneum Centre: integration – above the division into faculties, institutes and departments – of people interested in the area of the eastern Mediterranean and the South Slavs, especially in terms of historical and cultural heritage. We plan to achieve this goal by turning to the works of the Ceraneum Centre, primarily though through the exchange of information taken by the individual students societies of a similar profile, common inclusion in such activities, their coordination, exchange of experiences and ideas.
The lecture will take place on Thursday, 4th of April 2013 at 6 pm in room 1.29 of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Łódź at 8/12 Kopcińskiego Street
